From this initial foray into acting, she moved on to cinema, driven by her usual flair and drive for achieving perfection in any given craft. Her first major film, "Maala-ala Mo Kaya: The Movie", won for her the coveted Gawad Urian for Best Supporting Actress in 1994, along with a nomination from the PMPC Star Awards for the same category that year. Since then, she has been a finalist for outstanding performances as lead or supporting actress in all the major award-giving bodies of the Philippines, firmly establishing the industry's regard for her as one fo the most valuable actresses in the country.
